: CAMPBBH3LTOWN. Major Cpyle, late inspector of submarine mining, has arrived to undertake blasting operations in the harbour. He was met by Mr A. Robin, accompanied by Lieut. -Col. Henderson, inspected the corps, when 44 were on parade, also 32 cadets. Tho number of the Guards would have been, larger had a number of the men not been at work on the wharf. Tho cadets drilled excellently, and the Colonel expressed himself as very well pleased with the corps as a whole. On Wednesday afternoon, sports were held in delightful weather. The residents attended in fair numbers, and tho Naval Band played a capital programme. Tho sports were keenly contested, some being quite exciting. Tho ladies were regaled with refreshments, which were most acceptable on such a waiin day. On Sunday church parade was held, tho corps marching to tho Presbyterian Church, where an excellent sermon was proached by the Rev. Mr McDonald. The annual meeting of the Bluff Naval Band was held on Tuesday evening, the President, Mr J. H. Reed, and about 20 members being present. The annual reports and balance-sheet were adoptod. The report of tho year's working set forth in clear and concise terms somo oi tho points wherein members had been remiss, and pointed out wherein better results for the future anight be obtained. The officials elected were : — President, Mr J. H. Reed ; vice-presidents, Dr Torrance, Messrs P. Georgeson, J. Valentine, J. W. King, G. R. George, and S. Nichol ; trustees for the public, Messrs Reed, George and Torranco ; for the band. Messrs Kienan, Norris and J. Walker ; bandmaster, Mr A. Slater ; secretary and treasurer, Mr S. Ferguson ; librarians, Messrs Valentino and Johnson ; auditors, Messrs J. Kienan and H. J. Norris ; committee, Messrs McNoish, Kienan, Norris, Burtenshaw, and J. Walker ; sergeant, J, Kienan ; corporal, A. McNeish. Mr H, Joosten. ivho was secretary and trear surer for several years, was elected an honorary life member, bandsmen being eulogistic regarding the manner In which ho had carried out tho important duties attaching to those offices.
