Bazaar at Orepuki

'Krom our own correspondent-}

For some months past the ladiei of Orepuki have been busy' getting a lot of work ready for v bazaar in aid of 4he Citizens' Band fund, and arranged to have the function on the 19th and 20th inst. Unfortunately these evenings turned out very unfavourable, being Very wet and blustering. Howover, a fair number put in an appearance, and ■ the bazaar was declared open by Jlr A. M. Oawsou, who, in a humorous j-peech, bespoke the liberal patronage of the public to so praiseworthy an object. The band was present "in force, and added, much to the pleasure and success of the evenings by their excellent music, Husiness was not very brisk, but between £20 and £30 were taken each evening. As there was still a lot of goods on hand, it was resolved to open ugain on Saturday in order to dispose of tho balance. A fair attendance regarded them, and tho takings proved m,uch better, but I have not heard the ■ gross amount. However, tho band will hav.e Iheir liabilities brought into small compass by the. effotts of the ladies. who deserve tho thanks of the whole community for the great help they have from time to time given to the Orepuki brass bund .
