The progress report stock returns to the end of last year give some idea of the disastrous results of the drought. The Singleton and Cooma districts have not yet supplied returns, but the final figures will not be largely altered. The number of sheep is stated at 24,476,000, a decrease of 17,381,000 os compared with the previous year. Cattle, 1,400,000, a decrease of 398,000: horses 393,054. a decrease of 61,476. In 1891 there were 61,831,000 sheep. Since then there has been a steady yearly decrease.
