Bandsman McGrath (Invercargill) took a high position in solo work at Masterton and that in very excellent company.
Mr J. G. Gow, our recently returned emissary, is being sent to South Africa to foster New Zealand trade.
Fijian affairs are again prominent. British statesmen are evidently keeping colonial aspirations in view. An attempt is to be made to rehabilitate Captain Dreyfus. A Continental paper has got hold of a sensational story about stolon British despatches. As with us it is being found necessary to save the Alaskan fur seal from excessive slaughter. The freedom with which divorce can bo obtained in America is scathingly -denounced by Cardinal Gibbons. A return of stock losses in N.S.W. deals with unthinkable quantities. Westralia gold yields and profits aro very handsome.
