At Darlinghurst Charles Humphreys shot his wife, ' inflicting serious wounds in her cheek and neck, and then Mew out his own brains. 110 had been drinking heavily. The woman will probably recover.
Mrs Humphreys led an unhappy lifo owing to the drunken habits and illuwagfj of her husband-, who last night, when under the influence of drink, threatened to shoot her. She fled to a neighbour's but returned this morning and! the quarrel was resumed on the verandah. Humphreys suddenly fired two shots at his wife, both taking effect. He then committed suicide. Humphreys was an 6X-gu&rd<n»an and was some time in New Zealand.
