It is rumoured at Puerto Oabello that the Germans have captured, and blown tip Fort San Carlos, and that the Vanther was disab/ed during the fight, the cruiser Falke towing her to Willimstad.
Tlie revolutionists defeated Castro's troops badly some miles westward of Puerto Cabello. The general commanding was captured.

Speaking at the regatta, lincheon yesterday, the State Treasurer said that while Germans were 'loud in ridiculing British inability to speedily terminate the TJoer war, the attempts t>f the Germans to take the Venezuelan fort were not creditable. They had to make several attempts before succeeding. If the Germans had had the same task io perform as the British, the South African campaign would probably hava lasted very much longer.

It is unofficially stated that Mr Bowen offers 30 per cent of the* Customs' at Puerto Cabello and La Guayra, to be collected by a joint committee of the Powers Concerned.
The British naval authorities a t ta Guayra report that the blockade will v be raised on Wednesday.
