A Suggestion
» TO THE EDITOR. Sib, — In conversation with a number of local bandsman I understand J^iat there is a strong desire that the next contest to be held under the auspices of the N. 2. Association, should be held in Invercargill sometime towards the end of the present year. The contest held here seven years ago was a thorough success in every way. To carry out the suggestion it would be necessary to make a start at once ad it takes five or six months to get suitable music from Britain, and bands require two or three months to practise the selection. From a business point of view I consider the hotel and shopkeepers should take the matter up warmly as they will benefit greatly by the influx of competitors and visitors to the town during the contest week. I would (suggest that a public meeting be called to consider this, if thought advisable to give effect to this proposal.—l am, &c, Basjo. Invercargill, 14th Feb.
