THE SENTENCING OF CZOLGOSZ STOCKS, PRODUCE AND METAL MARKETS LONDON, Sept. 27. Received 27th, 10.37 p.m. Czolgosz, replying to the question as to whether he wished to say anything, listlessly remarked that he alone was guilty ; that nobody was aware of his plans. He was sentenced to be electrocuted and stood erect and motionless, looking straight at the Judge, as judgment was pronounced. There was no demonstration amongst the spectators. His execution is fixed for 28th October at Auburn prison ; this being the earliest date the law allows. Received 27th, 10.44 p.m. The weekly returns of the Bank of England show the stock of gold, coin and bullion to be L 57,495,00 0; the reserve, L 2 8,0 11,000; and the proportion cf reserve to liabilities, 54*07; notes in circulation, L2t),402,000 ; public deposits amount to Ll0,884,000; and other deposits, L 40,758,000 ; Gov ernment securities, L 16 ,663,000; and other securities, L 25 ,458,000. Three months' bills are discounted at 2^ per cent. Consols, 93f Colonial securities — New South Wales 4 per cents, 1134,; 3£'s, 106; 3's, 9H; Victorian 4's, 1 12 ; 34's, 106; 3's, 96 J; South Australian Z\ s, 105 ; 3'h, 93; Queensland 4's, 1061 ; 3A's, 102; New Zealand 4's, 115 ; 3^s, 107^; 3's, 97 ; Tagmanian 3^'s, 103 ; Westralian 3£'s, 103. The wheat market is quiet and steady. South Australian and Victorian cargoes of September-October shipment, 28s 9d ; Victorian (steamer parcel afloat), 26s 3d. An official estimate of the French crop is 37 £ million quarters. Tin is dull -Spot, £113 7s 6d per ton; three months, £111 10s. No. 1 pig iron, f.o.b. on Clyde, 53s lOJd per ton. The sugar market is dull— German, 7s 6d ; first marks, 9s 7 id. The Bradford wool market is restricted : Common sixties, 20d ; super, 20£ d. Received 28th, 1.9 a.m. President Loubet visits Russia in April.
