Received 27th, 2 52 p.m. The Columbia was leading by a mile, but the race was not finished within the time limit. Sept. 27. Received 27th, 11 p.m. An enormous excursion fleet of 200 j'achts viewed the race. The wind was north-east — an eight-knot breeze. Within half an hour the Shamrock was a quarter of a mile ahead. Then the wind fell and the Columbia successfully tacked across the Shamrock's bows, and soon had a lead of a (juartor of a mile. The Shamrock then caught a fresh puff and pushed along, but the bretae afterwards favoured the Columbia, and she rounded the mark boat half a mile ahead. The wind then dropped to a twoknot air, and the race was declared off ; the American representative being three-quarters of a mile ahead, with three and threequarter miles uncovered. The race will be reaailed to-morrow. London, Sept. 27. Received 27th, 11 p.m. Yesterday the crowd in Dublin watched with greater eagerness for the result of the race than tho pollings at the election.
