Irish Athletic Society

The adjourned annual meeting of this Society was held in Millar's Restaurant on Friday evening, Mr T. McGrath (vice-pre-sident) in the chair. Mr W. Hinchey, secretary, read the annual report, Vbich congratulated members on the success of the last gathering in spite of the adverse circumstances under which it was held- The^eceipts of the gates and at the concert were highly satisfactory. The .expenses were heavy, and tlw directors recommended that advertising |n' the northern papers be dispensed with. The balance sheet showed that the financial position of the Society had improved' by £15. The receipts amounted to £268 and the chief items of expenditure were, prize money £137 16s ana concert expenses £17. BlcNamara superintendent of sports, and Mr J. Murphy judge of . the Sheffield handicap. It was decided that ihe first prize for the Sheffield handicap be £30, second £7 lOs, third £3, and fourth a : . guinea, £1 also being given to winners of Ijiakte. Hon. H. Feldwick, M.L.C., Mr R, 'MclSabf M.H.R., and Mr J. S- .Goldie, Jif ayor, were made patrons of the Society
