The Landing of Lord Hopetonn

Royal Arthur, witb the GovernorGeneral aboard, came on from Jervois Bay this morning, and outside tho heads was met by six warships and a number of steamers gaily decorated, including the Waikare and ! Zealandia, and was escorted to Farm Cove where the official landing took place at half past eleven o'clock. It was a magnificent spectacle as the flagship, with her escort, passed through the mail and other steamers and sailing vessels, gay with bunting, which lined each side of tho harbour in view of an immense concourse ashore and afloat. Tbe landing salute having been fired Lord Hope- ! toun was conducted to a splendidly-decorated reception pavilion where he was received and welcomed by the Premier and was presented with an address by the Mayor on behalf of the citizens. A procession was then formed, escorted by the military, including a number of New Zealaiiders recently arrived from South Africa, and naval detachments, and proceeded, via the Domain through the principal streets to Government House. There were dense crowds and wealth of bunting along the entire route anil much enthusiasm.
