The Literary batted first and made 105 for two -wickets — Kane (not put) 38, Grace 35, Ward s>7. . When timo was called the Star had lost 5 wickets for 45— R. Strang 10, Wesney 10. J. The school, batting first, made 92 — Acheson 20, Brown 15. ' Gladstone made 62— O'Toole 13. . Acheson for the winners and Hurley for the losers, bowled well. The return match between Winton District and the Banks' team, played on the luvercargill ground, was won bjTihe banks 'by 4 wicjeiets and 74~runs. Winton replied "with 80, the principal scorers being Baird 29, Donald 12, , Norman 11. For Winton Carey took 2 wickets for 31 and Jenkins 2 for 49, while Howden, 5 for 33, Taylor, 2 for 23 and Twemlow, 3 for 3, did the bowling for the Banks.
