School Prize Days

The Park School children assembled in Strong force on Tuesday evening and there , .-'.:;■ was a large attendance of parents. The ~ v chairman of the committee — Mr Spite — opened the proceedings in each room and ' left members of the committee to distribute T . the prizes. He stated that the year had been one of the most successful in the his- : tory of the school. The Rev. J. A. Lux- : fora stated that he had seen the Inspectors report, and it proved that the school had a ■/.: competent staff ;he congratulated the chilU ' dren on the brave way in which Vhey had „.-.: fought vulgar fractions and old history. During the. proceedings the children sang very creditably and at the close cheers were v' given f° r Mr Hairi and the teachers, Mr .Spite and the committee. The head- ■. master being in Melbourne and Miss Dry- £■- burgh, the mistress, being absent on sick : leave, Mr Burnside and Miss Joyce marshalled the children and carried out their .I;.'-:-/ own duties aa well as those of the absant ■> teachers, with commendable zeal.
