A PPLICATIONS are invited from Steamship XX. owners stating subsidy that would be required for a two (>!) yeaiß'. service between New Zealand, West Australia and South Africa. The steamer would require to bo of from 3000 tons to 4000 tons register, and to have suitable refrigerating accommodation for the conveyance of frozen Meat and Dairy Produce. It is also desirable that passenger accommodation should be provided, and applicants will be required to state what passenger accommodation would be available. The steamers would be required to leave New Zealand about once every sI.N (6) weeks ; steamers calling at noo less than three (3) nor more than six (6) New Zealand porte, such porte lo bo named In conditions of contract. From the final port the steamers would proceed to Freinantle, Westralia, and thence to Durban, Eoet London, Port I llzabeth and Capetown. It is necessary that the draughb of steamers when loaded thould be stated, as it is desirable that it should be Buoh as would enable them to enter South African ports and proceed to the usual wharves. In computing the subsidy required it would be a condition that the rates of freight upon all cargo should not exceed thoso ruling between the colony and London by the ordinary steamship lines.
