SECOND DAY.

Perfect weather, a splendid show of stock and implements and a record attendance ! What more could the Association ask for ? They deserve it all. President, stewards and secretory worked with a will and left no stone unturned to ensure success and they got it, and should be heartily congratulated on the glorious result. In the morning the streets of lnvercargill were filled with stalwart men and bonnie lassies from east, west and north, all intent on having a " real good time," and they had it. The number paying at the gates was 7600 — the record— and in addition there were exhibitors, members and other non-payers, so that at the very le^st there must have been I 0000 people on the ground, all very appreciative of the grand display they had journeyed to see. Visitors to the shows lately held in Christchurch and Duuedin were unanimous in thoir opinion that this year South laud wag on top and it now behoves us to try to keep there. We have the stock, and in order to maintain it at the present standard, or, better still, to improve it, we only require to try to beat those good men and true whose names are now household words throughout New Zealand — Sutton, McKerchar, McCrostie, Beaven, Blakie, Officer, Curswell, Gardner, Grieve, Drain and others — names that are mentioned wherever the breeders of horses, cattle or sheep are talked of.
