MJ CLYMA, Proprietress BOROUGH OF INVERCARGILL PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Borough of Inveicargill at a special meeting held on Friday the 24th day of November, 1899, passed the following resolution That this Council do by this Special order adopt the following resolution :— “ That the proposed bylaw for the regulation of the Abattoir and sale of meat be adopted and is hereby adopted and ehall come into force on such day after the 20th day of January, 1900, and after the assent of the Governor-in-Counoil has been given to it as shall be publicly notified by the Town Clerk.” And Public Notice is hereby further given that a special meeting of the said Council will be held on Thursday the 11th day of January, 1900, at half-past seven of tha clock in the evening, at the Council Hall, Kelvin street, to confirm the foregoing resolution.

And Public Notice is hereby further given that the purport or object of the bylaw is the regulation of the abattoir, which meane and includes part of section 1, block XV, Invercargill Hundred, and any additional land the property of the Mayor, Councillors and Burgesses of the Borough of Invercargill, which may from time to time be held or occupied for abattoir purposes, together with all buildings, erections and structures thereon and used therewith and also for the regulation of the sale of meat in the said Borough and the said bylaw provides for the interpretation of the terms used therein, and for ths euperintendenc e of the abattoir, the Inspector’s duties, the making of regulations by the Couacil, the hours for slaughter ing, for admittance to the abattoir, for reporting cattle on admission, for giving notice of intention to slaughter, for the special duties of slaughtermen, for the supervision of slaughtermen’s licenses, for the appointment of responsible slaughtermen, and for prohibiting the ill-treatment Of animals, for prohibiting the slaughter of cattle except in such part of the abattoir and in such manner as the Inspector shall direct, for the management of pithing pens, for cleaning the compartments, for preventing the waste of water, for the inspection of carcasses, for cutting in o capcases, for inspection, for the destruction o’ diseased animals, for prohibiting the killing of calves under fourteen days old, and for the destruction cf blown meat, and for the inspection of meat privately killed, and for the removal of carcasses from the abattoir, and for prohibiting the carriage of meat in parts that are not clean, and for providing that the traffic in the abattoir shall be under the Direction of the Inspector, and fixing slaughtering and inspection fees, and for prohibiting butchers selling meat within the Borough without a license, and setting forth the grounds for refusing or revoking such licenses, and for issuing placards to butchers and vendors of meat, and far prohibiting the sale or exposure for sale ot meat not killed in the abattoir, and for imposing penalties for breaches of the bylaw. And Public Notice is hereby further given that a copy of the eaid proposed bylaw is deposited at the office of the said Council in Kelvin street and is open for the inspection of the public during office houre of every week day until the said 11th day <?f January, 1009, and such office hours are from 9.30 of the clock in the morning until 4.30 of the clock in the afternoon of every week day except Saturday, when they are from 9 30 of the clock in the morning until 1 of the clock in the afternoon.
