A Windfall

Dear Mr Editor,— Walking some distance behind the municipal dust-cart the other day, I observed a piece of paper blown away and carried down the street. The wind deposited it at my very feet, and I picked it up. It proved to contain the following poem. Perhaps if you were to publish it the author might apply to you for his MS., and then perhaps we should find out who he is. Some of us young colonials would like to make his acquaintance.—Yours &.C., A. D. CHUMS. No. 1 (Supmilioso). I’m a young Coloni-all I’m slender, trim, and tall, I wear natty collars, I’m keen on the dollars, My beer is, (it toilers), Not email — I’m a young Coloni-all. No. 2. (Con furore.} I’m a young Coloni-011, At matches I barrack and yell ; Oh ! football andoricket I The goal and the wioketl Yes, that is the ticket I sell— I’m a young Coloni-ell. No. 3. (Inyeniioso) I’m a young Coloni-tle, I stand at street corners and smile. With my comments eo cheery I worry the weary, And thus the hours dreary Beguile— I’m a young Coloni-ile. No. 4. (Ciamoroso). I’m a young Coloni-owl, I lore to racket and howl. At weddings I hammer Tin kettles, and clamou,’ Till Gaffer and Gammer Do growlI'm a young Coloni-owl. No. 5 (Solemn noso). I’m a young Ooloni-ols, Concerned about grandmother’s soul. Much wisdom of heaven To me hath been given - To spread the true leaven’s My role— I’m a young Coloni-ole. Omnes (Fortissimo-Trombones.)
