The steamer Tarawera arrived from Melbourne via Hobart at 8 a.m. yesterday. Bhe left Melbourne at 8.3 C p.m. on the sth, reached Hobart at JI a.m. on the 7th, and left lor Bluff at 10.45 p.m. same day, arriving as above. From Hobart to arrival had strong westerly winds and heavy seas. The Tarawera brought 110 tons of cargo for the Bluff and about 900 tons for ports. Her passenger list was also a fairly large one. She sailed for Dunedin at 4.30 p.m. The steamer Duke of Portland, flying the NewZealand Shipping Company's flag, arrived off the port on Sunday, and was berthed at 1.30 p.m. The steamer was formerly the Shire line Morayshire, Captain Duncan is in command, and his officers are Messrs Robson, Delcomvn, .Willis, and de la Sala, chief, second, third, and fourth respectively. Mr Butter is chief engineer, his assistants being Messrs Glen, Lewie, and Stalker. The refrigerating engineers are Messrs Yore and Forrester; Dr Page is surgeon and Mr Palgrave, chief steward. The Duke of Portland will take from Bluff about 11,000 crates rabbits, 7000 oarcases mutton, 3uo bales wool, 100 casks tallow and pelts and 300 cases of preserved meat*. The steamer Hawea is duo this morning from Dnnedin with about 250 tons of cargo and takes in between 2000 and 3000 sacks of produce for Auckland and Wellington, sailing to-night. The brig Edward sailed for Auckland yesterday evening with a cargo of produce. (By Telegraph). Wellington, July 11. The barquentine St. Hilda, which stranded at Wanganui last week, but was refloated and put to sea, is leaking and has been towe l to Wellington for repairs. When the vessel's hawser snapped, a sailor had his leg broken by the recoil of the rope.
