Eskbank Estate, seven miles from St. Andrews railway station, was offered at auction to-day for the Assets Realisation Board. In all 4810 acres, divided into 21 farms, were offered. The sale was not a success, only four lots being disposed of at LS 2s 6d to L 6 14s 6d per acre. Three others were taken up after the sale. A large and sympathetic gathering was held atTemuka last night, when a testimonial of esteem was presented to Mr A. E. G. Rhodes, a former member and defeated' candidate for Geraldine electorate. It was an Opposition meeting, and in sympathy with the speakers in their criticism of Government principles and methods. Most of them went over old ground, but Mr Rolleston made some reference to the speech of the Premier at Petone, since the House rose, condemning him for his references to the Opposition as filibustering marauders, and for misleading the people by claiming for the new Liberalism credit for movements begun by the old. DUNEDIN, April 24. The directors of the Mosgiel Woollen Company have declared an interim dividend at the rate of 8 per cent, per annum for the half year. Mr D. R. White was elected graduates’ representative on the Otago University Council. The Trades Councils Conference resumed to-day and concluded. A motion was passed approving of co-operative settlements.
