The town team that visited the Lakes i District returned to town on Monday night well pleased with their trip. The first match played was at Arrowtown on the 25th, and it resulted in a win for the town team by 99 runs. Following are the scores : —

Bowling averages :—Burnes 4 for 28, Dalrymple 3 for 26, Golding 1 for 10, Stead 1 for 7. On Boxing Day the match against Queenstown was played on a shocking wicket, no matting being laid, and in a few overs it cut up badly, batting and bowling creases disappearing every time the ball was pitched causing the dust to rise. The town team made a poor stand, and the Queenstown boys, who appeared to be very much at home on the pitch, won by 7 wickets. Town Team— lst Innings.

Howell took 5 wickets for 37, McKibbin 5 for 47. The Victorians had to follow on and*requiring 213 to save an innings defeat have lost eight wickets for 191. Graham 33, Worrall 27, |Harry 18, Bruce 13, McLeod (not out) 75, were the chief scorers. At the start the wioket was soft and treacherous but improved later in the day.
