In the second essay Marriott scored 36, Poughor 26, Gleeson (not out) 53. When the game was drawn the home team had only one wicket to fall and yet had 317 to get to save the innings’ defeat. In the county match Essex defeated Yorkshire. In first innings of Leicestershire Giffen took 8 wickets for 30 and in the second 6 for 99.
