Supreme Court.

(By Telegraph.) Christchurch, Aug. 13 Altred Edward Nottingham, a youth of 18, pleaded guilty to having broken into the Burnham Industrial School and stolen two musical instruments and was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. George Fuller was found guilty of breaking into the shop of F. A. Cook and stealing a quantity of tobacco and was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment. George Peck, charged with bigamy, applied for an adjournment and filed an affidavit in support. His Honour said the affidavit was a plea that the accused could not possibly commit bigamy here because he had previously committed it in Auckland. After some argument his Honour said that the accused would probably find himself with two indictments to meet in November. However, a remand to next sittings would be granted. Bail was allowed. Henry Thomas, for a breach of the Bankruptcy Act, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. Jane Williams, for larceny of a handbag containing jewellery, was placed on probation for six months ; her daughter, a young girl, was acquitted on the same charge.
