(By Telegraph.) Christchurch, Aug. 12. The weather was very cold and showery for the second day of the Grand National Meeting and the course was very heavy. The attendance was good and L697S passed through the totalisator. Following are the results: — August Handicap (flat) 6 furlongs— Beadonwell (10.9), 1; Marino (10.6), 2; Lord of Misrule (9.8), 3. Thirteen others started. Won by half a length. Time—l min. 21 i secs. Dividends, LlB 18s and Ll 4 9s 6d.
Hunt Club Cup (two and a half miles)— Jones’s The Bug (11.0), 1; Buckley’s Victor (11-4), 2; Reids Gable (11.0), 3. JScven others stareed. Won by 12 lengths. Time —5 min. 0J secs. Dividends, L 7 7s 6d and L 7 ss.
Grand National Hurdles (two miles) Glover’s Donald McKinnon, 10.3 (Ashdown), 1 ; Rutherford’s Barnardo (11.10), 2 ; Deuglas’s Couranto (12.3), 3. Liberator 12.12, Empire 10.3, Despised 10.2, Auroa lO.lj Victim 9.10, and Sunspot 9.0 also started. Despised jumped off with the lead and reinained in command for three-quarters of the distance. Dona'd McKinnon and Barnardo then moved up, the former winning by six lengths ; Couranto the same distance away Time—4 min. 5J sees. Dividends, L 6 5s and L 5 13s.
Beaufort Steeplechase (two and a half miles)—Alexander’s Roscius, 12 4 (Alexander), 1; Marechai Neil (10.5), 2; Chrystal (9 /), 3. Norton was the only other starter and he fell at Cutts’. Won easily. Time—--5 min. 2 2-sth secs. Dividends, L 3 63 6d and L 3 3a.
Hunters’ Hurdles (once round and a distance)—Williams’s Gillie, 12.13 (owner), 1; Gollan’s Pe Po (12.4), 2; Pritchard’s Ann strong (11.3), 3. Five others started. Won by b. length. Time—3 min. I2J sees. Dividend?, L 3 103 and L2 18s 6d. Final Hurdles (once round and a distance) —Brin, 9.5 (Cotton), 1; War Dance (9.7), 2; King John (9.5), 3. Four others started. Won by two lengths. Time—3 mio. 12J secs. Dividends, L 6 6s and L 5 Ila 6d.
Ladies Bracelet (one and half mile)— Mrs Rutherford’s Rotorua, 12.8 (Wilson) 1; Miss McDonald’s Tavistock (12 8) 2- Hon Mrs Barker’s Pilgrim (12.8), 3. Six’others started. Won by two lengths. Timo—3 min._ 5 secs. Dividends, L2 16a Qd an a JL2 ss,
