Harcourt, late Chancellor of . the Exchequer, by 840 and 282 respectively; for Perth, Mr Wallace (L) was returned by a majority of 370. The Barrow election resulted in the return of Mr Charles W. Cayzer, the late member, by 800. Darlington returned Mr A. Pease (Unionist) by a majority of 657, the seat having been held in last Parliament by a Liberal. For Chatham Mr Davies (C) was returned by §B3 ; for Manchester North West, Sir W. Houldsworth (C) by a majority of 1400 ; for Manchester East, Hon. A. J. Balfour defeated Professor Joseph E. C.
