Donaghy & Co., or Southland Twine Company, or Cruickshank’s brands 4d 5Jd 6Jdj The Auckland prices are the ring quotations, and are those that other New Zealand makers and the dealers in the ring have bound themselves to exact locally, although they tell the same twines, freight and insurance paid, to Melbourne for2Jd, 3Ad, and 4jd. Our quotation for Donaghy’s twine includes the profit of an Australian firm from whom we bought (our local application for prices being unreplied to), ocean freight to and from Melbourne, two sets of insurances, exchanges, harbour dues, and landing charges, bond charges in Melbourne, cartage at each port, New Zealand railage, and a very nice profit to us, and yet no maker or dealer in the ring will quote less than 4M, although they escape all the costs of shipping. Farmers can therefore see how they are being overcharged. We have landed and have to arrive all the stock we require, but we retain the right to accept or reject any order. tendered, and to fill those accepted entirely with any of the brandsabove-named or with such assortment of them as is convenient. We shall exhibit and have on hand at our Agencies our new and improved Frameless Reaper and Binder with our new Buckeye Mower.
