CANTERBURY. Wellington, Nov. 9. This match was begun this afternoon and so far has gone in favour of the local team who scored 146, of which Cross and A. Blacklock put- on 51 for the first wicket. Cuff then went on to bowl and proved very effective. The chief scorers were A. Blacklock 31, Cross 21, Gore 29, and Fuller 21. Cuff took 4 wickets for 14, and Pearce 3 for 14 ; Robertson did not get a wicket. Canterbury have made 88 —Cuff 29, Labatt and MacFarlane 12 each. Upham bowled exceedingly well against the wind and secured 5 wickets for 20.
