An Independent Liberal.
[By Telegraph.] Dunedin, Nov. 7. Mr W. Etrnshaw, M.H.R., addressed a lamely attended meeting of electors tonight. He criticised the administration and policy of the Government very severely. He declared that their financial policy wo ild be disastrous to the colony and especially to the working men. Ministers were tyrannical and autociatic to their supporters and arranged expenditure so as to punish those who were not subservient. He asserted that the Tariff Committee recommended increased duties on articles of general consumption and that the policy of the so-called Liberal Government was to tax fuel and food. He denounced almost every act and speech of Ministers. The Rev. A. H. Wallace proposed a vote of confidence in and approval of the conduct of -Mr Earnshaw. Capt, Fox proposed a vote of of confidence and challenged Mr Earnshaw to resign and contest the seat with hin\. The motion was carried, many present not voting.
