TOWN v. COUNTRY. The first match played under the rules of the above association took place on Monday on the I.C.C. ground. The interest taken in the game was proved by the country members representing Queenstown, Lumsden, Riverton, Bluff, Wyndham and Mataura Clubs rolling up to a man. They were reckoned a strong bowling and fair batting team, whilst the “ townies ” were thought weak in the former department. However, victory was with the local men, the Country boys only making|4s and 37, whilst the Town made 123 in their first innings thus winning by an innings and 31 runs. Raymond captained the Country and Burnes the Town men. Subjoined are the scores: Town—lst Innings.
