An Urgent Necessity
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — Before coming to Bluff Harbour we heard all sorts of bad reports concerning it. On arrival here we find it all that could be desired with regard to the safety of our ships, but not so to the safety of our lives, as we are in danger of losing them any dark night, all for the want of a few lamps on the wharf. Surely now that the trade ol your port has increased so much the Harbour Board might give us that small concession, j and enable us to come and go from our ships ' in safety. Trusting that some member of j the Board will kindly bring this question j forward at the next meeting, — We remain, ; &c., A. G. Pitt, ship Sutlej. J. Bbeckwoldt, barque Marianna. B. Bartlett, barque Cooleen. D. Ewing, barque Nairnshire. Bluff Harbour, 30th March.
