(By Telegraph.) Auckland, Feb. 29. During the voyage of the bar quen tin c Elinor Vernon, from Port Chalmers, a seaman named Ernest M. Petersen, a Swede, fell overboard while furling the jib and was drowned. Wellington, Feb. 29. The s.s. Queen of the South is aground on the Manawatu bar, but it is expected will be floated off to-morrow.
