Auctioneers Report
♦ Mitchell, White sod Cj report having kad bo auction sale of stork during the wrek. but sold several lines privately . On Tuesday, the 3rd inst, in Mr Thos. Green's rooms, Gore, we sold a far ■ in the Otama dis trict, the property of the late H. GameroD, containing abjut 200 acres. Thf attendance was large, and the competition, which was nearly all confined to adjoining geUlere, was keen, and bidding spirited through oat. Although the terms, as usual in such estates, was cash wit n ia a few days, tbe property reached L 6ls an >ere, at which price it was knocked down to Mrs Mcc, who has already a considerate area of land alongside, and must be conversant wih the leal value of land in the locality. This and Other recent land sales in Southland should do a good deal to satisfy landholders in the district that land will no * sell at fair value when they make up their minds to place it in the market. Horse market — On aiurday we again offered • fair number, including f*ir dracgh's for plough and other contract work, and the demand was rather better than at last sales, best sorts teaching LI S, while small and inf«rior made Ll2 to L 8 each. Hacks and light harness horses, if good sorts, are bringing LlO to LH and old feeble sorts fr jm 30s to L 4 each .
