Our Mutton in England.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — I notice in your issue today a lettsr headed " Stop it," and signed " Sheep Farmer. " He aays : — " The Home consumer has to pay some 9d to lOd for the mutton we get 3|d f or. " This statement is rather misleading. I send a Home paper with retail prices for N.Z. mutton quoted. You have pointed out so many times the advantages to sheep farmers in having England for a market {that I leave the matter in your able hands to deal with as you think proper. — I ivm, &c. , Ouservkr. 9th January. [A copy of the Canterbury Press and County News of Nov. Bth, sent by our correspondent, contains the following quotations of New Zealand mutton in the advertisement of a Cash Grocery Co. : — Legs, 6Jjd; shoulders, 6d ; loina, sitl ; necks and breasts, 3sd ; forequarters, 4^d ; hinds, 6^d ; whole sheep, sd ; half-sheep, s£d. The meat is characterised aa "the best."— Ed. J
