The w Tarawera left Port Chalmers at 5.45 p.m, on the 4th, and arrived at the Bluff at 7.50 yesterday morning. She experienced fine weather with smooth sea during the trip. After discharging "general cargo she loaded meats, eystcrs, fish, hides, sawn timber, and 2110 bags of oats, and sailed for Melbourne at 4 p.m.

The 8.8 Afghan while loading coil here has foundered with 2500 tons on board The disaster is supposed to have been caused by the leaving open ef a valve in the bilge connected •with the enginss. The Afghau is in (shallow water on a soft bottom.
