— ♦ [By Telegraph.] Wellington, July 5. All the cases in the criminal sessions except the trial of Louis Chemis for the Kaiwarra murder are now finished. John DaltonVwas sentenced to three years' hard labour for stealing Lll from the Rainbow Hotel, Kaiwarra ; John Andrew Thompson, convicted of sheep stealing, was remanded till inquiries could be made as to whether he was a suitable person to be dealt with under the Probation Act; Oswald Brodie was acquitted on a charge of burning seven stacks of wheat and oats on his farm hear Masterton with intent to defraud an insurance company.
