SYDNEY, July 4. Mr J. Davies, C.M.G., and M.L.3., hes been acquitted of the charges brought against him of embtzzliDgcenain valuable securities, the property of the Government, to w.t, warrants and orders for the payment of L 26 17s 3 J, L 33 3s 2d, and L 52 3s Id. The magistrates held that a pi'ima facie case had not been proved, and that the charges ought not to nave been made. MELBOURNE, July 4. Inform ti m has been received that the Victorian wines at the Paris Exhibition have been recommended for nine gold, twenty-tight silver, and seventeen bronza meduis, and nine certificates of honourable mention. These recommendations are made subject to confirmation in August.
