There were no arrivals ox departures at tbu port yesterday. ■XPICTBD ARRIVAL*. From MelbourHe— Waihora from Northern Forte— larawera The American barque Albert Rns c ell was recently lost on a voyage from New York to Brisbane. The following statement baa been made by one of the survivors :— " Sailed on the American barque Albert Russell from New York on 9th February, for Brisbane, with a cargo of kerosene ; had a good breeze until Monday night between 8 and 9 o'clock, when •we had a Hurricane ; the lower main topsail, the Jmizzen topmast staysail and the foretopxnaat staysail were blown away ; about half-an-hour afterwards the vessel capsized ; she was lying on her beam ends ; all the crew got up in the main channel j the captain's wife, two children and ths steward wera in the cabin when she capsized and were drowned.. After the vessel capsized the- crew were trying to cut the rigging and were washed away, one after • another ; about twelve o'clock all the crew were washed away except myeelf, a seaman named August Emmerman, and a boy named John ; on the night of 15th February the b»y was washed away } the following day the weather became pretty fair and I then went about to loJk for f >od. I found four tins [of ailkand .: six tins of lobsters ; we ate one tin betwuen us each day ; when it rained we held up our months to catch the rain, and drank oar own water ; we had nothing to eat during the 13 days we were on the wreck except the f our tins of milk and six tins of lobsters. On the 23rd at six o'clock in the afternoon we were taken off tae wreck by the wnaling schooner William A. Grozier and taken to Portsmouth, Dominica, on 13th March."
