Absolutely Necessary.
» — . TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — 1 notice Councillor Finn has asked for a return showing the amount of money owing and work to be <Sbne in the South Ward. Now, if he would take a stroll along much-neglected Bowmont street, on the north side, between Conon and Nith streets, he would become aware of a work which it is necessary should at once be seen to. An open ditch — which other streets, more favoured, have covered iu — is therej into wliich stable drainings and other offensive matters are allowed to How and accumulate, and from which arise poisonous and filthy smells' which cannot always be shut out by doors and windows. I think it is full time the Council had this matter seen to, else disease and death will be the probable results. — lam, &c, Pure Air. Invercargill, 3rd July.
