The Colonial Treasury.

A SURPLUS OF L 66,000. [By Tblegbaph.] Wellington, April 18. The public accounts of the colony for the I financial year ending 31st March are now completed, showing a surplus, as far as the Consolidated Fund is concerned, of L 77,000. Against this however may be placed a de- ■ ficiency in the Land Fund of LI 1,000, leaving a net surplus of L 66,000. This satisfactory condition of the colonial finances will, the Premier states, enable the Government, as promised to Parliament, to use the full amount of the primage duty in reduction of the public debt and then have a handsome balance for the year.
