New Zealand Tbe above Company is being formed to acquire and work o i a large scale about, 2! 0 acres of valuable auriferous j'rcehuld land and about 50 acres held under licensed holdings (comprising in all about 300 acres), which land is situated on the borders >,f Lake Wakatipu, and about five miles from Queenstown. There are about 620 acres oi freehold land which will be conveyed to the Company free of rent, but of this there are only about 250 acres ousThe ground above mentioned has for a great many years been known to be auriferous ; and lately several applications have been made to purchase or resume possession of portions of this freehold for the purpose of mining, and minute portions of these properties adjoining thn oreelis have at diffe-ent periods during the last 20 years been worked by miners to great advantage. The terraces, as well as the lower ground, are auriferous, and exceptionally well situated for sluicing facilities'. The proprietors of th 9 properties have agreed to accept £4000 as the price thoieof, in addition to the sha-es already mentioned. They had to buy the several claims and valuable water rights mentioned by Mr Beal in his report. The estimated cost of construction of water races, dams, reservoir, sluic'Dg plant. &c-, will be £3000. The properties have been very carefully and exhaustively prospected and reported upon by L. O. Beal, Junr., Esq., of Dune.lin, Mining Engineer and Expert, whose report is appended hereto, and which concludes 3s follows : — " I would say, after carefully examining and testing the ground, that the property is a very excellent one, offering special facilities as a sluicing claim, and should, if worked in a thorough and systematic manner, yield a good and safe return on capital, and should last for fifteen or twenty years at least with a large plant." " To ihow the extremely rich character of the ground proposed to be worked, it need only be san that, evea assuming the wash to average only 5 grains of gold to the ton of stuff slaked, which is an extremely low average, the yield from 2u.U00 tons (which could easily be put through per month) would give tbe Company the very handsome return o£ £9olio per annum." The Company will pay all the preliminary expenses incidental to the floating of the Company, including brokerage, commission, printing, advertising, and all other costs in connection with the Company, but these are not expected to be heavy It is anticipated that it will not bo necesaary to call up more than 4s per sbare Applications accompanied by a deposit ot Is per share may be forwarded to any of the Brokers of the Company, or to the Bank of New Zea'and at any of its branches. In cases where no allotment is made, the deposit will be returned in full ; and when a less number of shares is allotted than »hall have been applied for, the balance of the deposit shall be applied towards the further payment accruing on the shares which may be allotted. As a large number of shares have already been subscribed for, immediate application io necessary.
