A Maori M.H.R. Accidentally Poisoned.

The unexpected death of Mr luaka te Hakuene, M.H.R. for the Northern Maori district, took place at Russell to-day. Ihaka aQd other natives were attending the Synod in Auckland aod dined with Archdeacon Clarko on Sunday ; a joint of roast beef and a diah of tinned beef being among the things provided. Ssveral natives, including Ihaka, partook of the latter and became very ill. They con - S'lit d Dr Hopper in Auckland, who advised them to remain, but Ibaka and two others belonging to the Biy of Islands district returned yesterday per Clansman, being anxious to be with bis friends. Ihaka since his arrival gradually got worse, and expired at five o'clock.
