«*. (By Telkgeaph.) Auckland, Oct. 14. Arthur S. Bennet, accountant, charged with perjury in regard to lh« endorsement of & proinieeory note in Robert .Fitzroy Bolton'a estate, was acquitted. The Judge expressed regret that he had been subjected to the inconvenience of a trial and animadverted strongly on certain evidence given for the prosecution. In the case of slander io which James Kay was charged with slandering Win. Green Englidh, a solicitor, the Judge inflicted a nominal penally of LI and costs.
