Public Notices. .^ l - THE EXHIBITION! , AUTUMN AO_WINTEE, 1886. r We have pleasure in notifying the arrival of the bulk of our direct shipments for the Winter Trade, including the newest and most fashion* able goods for the different Department. As a whole the shipments are an example of painstaking, shrewd, and judicious buying. Every line is bought from the best source, and many of the goods are unmistakably below current English prices. When we mention that 3uriDg the last twelve months we have had goods from one hundred and three different British and Continental Warehousemen and Manufacturers (Manufacturers chiefly), it is a proof that no pains is spared in getting everything from the fountain head. It is a maxim with us that only by the best buying can any firm hope to hold their own ; if goods are badly bought, they either are sold without a working profit, and shipwreck follows, or they are sold with a working profit, and the public discovei they are dear, and the trade vanishes. Our object has been and is to. buy goods so cheap that nobody else can buy them any cheaper. Hoping in this way to not only get a sufficient profit to keep the concern going, but also give our customers unmistakable] value, WE PROPOSE MAKING OUR SEASON'S SHOW ON THURSDAY, 18th MARCH, 1886, AND FOLLOWING DAYS. The show will as usual be made upstairs, and as arranged any lady can see almost at a glance the current styles in Dress Materials and Trimmings, Slillinery and Millinery Requisites, Mantles, Ulsters, &c. Goods are on hand and on sale now, but we keep back our usual *how a little so as to allow the harvest to be more advanced, and give such of our country friends as wish it an opportunity of seeing a display which is looked forward to by many as the event of the season.
