In the House of Commons to-day, Mr Dillwyn, member for Swansea, brought forward a motion for the disestablishment of the State Church in Wales A division was taken, with the result that tbe motion was rejected by 241 votes to 229. Speaking on tbe eubj- ct, Sir William Vernon Harcourt stated that be concurred in the motion m theabstiact, but the whole question was so interwoven with the standing of the English Church that it was impossible to deal with it separately. The mails ex the Valetta, from Melbourne (Jauuary 28th), were delivered to-day. March 10. Consols are at LlOl, a decline of ss. New Zealand securities are firm at last quotations. The market rate of discount is If or | below bank rate. Arrived— Crown Thorpe, from Wellington (Nov. 20th), Zealandis, from Napier (Nov. 28th). March 11. A report is current to-day that a serious railway collision has occurred near Mentone in the Riviera. Twenty people are stated to have been killed, including a number of English visitors. Tho rumour, however, lacks positive confirmation. CONSTANTINOPLE, March 11. Sir Wm. White represents Eagland at the preliminary Conference of Ambassadors which is to be held here prior to the official meeting.
