The racing was of a good description, and the attendance of the public large. Bagott Plate — Loughlin's Sheet Anchor, 1 ; Martin's Reginald, 2 ; O'Shannassy's First Prince, 3. Midsummer Handicap — Crippß* Duration, 1 ; Huxtable, 2 ; Camerine, 3. SYDNEY, Jan. 2. Fine weather prevailed throughout the holiday. The excursions and amusements were well patronised. The only fatal ac- j cident reported occurred yesterday, when a boat was capsized in the harbour, and iour persons were drowned. Their bodies I have not yet been recovered. ; The second day's ra^ es of the Tattersall's Club came off to-day at Randwiek. For the principal event, Carrington Stakes, of 1000 soys ; distance, one mile and three ! furlongs, a field of nineteen| horses faced the starter, hut of these only two horses were placed, Ben Bolt being .first, and Tempo Becond. A tbird place was not awarded. Ben Bolt won an exciting finish on the post by a neck. Time — two minß, 20seca.
