LADIES AND QENTI/B MEN— It is not my; intention jusfc now to speak of the following Medicines as being GOOD, BAD, or INDIFFERENT, nor to claim in connection therewith any greatjskill or long, e^perienca, although I migit jusV mention, ' in passiug, that I wm apprenticed in Fouth Wales in the beginning of 1867, afterwards serving in the capacity of Assistant or Manager in St. Neot's, Huntingdonshire ; St. Anstei, Cornwall;; Sheerness, London, Meroonrne, Biverton, and Invercargill. BUT WHAT I WISH TO MAKE KNOWN IS THAT JONES' HONEY PECTORAL SEIDLITZ POWDEBS VIOLET POWDER TOOTHACHE DBOPS OASTOB OIL OOBN CUBE . AND DANDELION and . ; BOSEMABY POMADE . PODOPHYLLIN PILLS Era, Etc., Etc. Are all manufactured and put up by myself, assisted hy my apprentices. I mention this because there is a firm (Steams and Co,) in America who put up an immense number of quack medicines, called non-secret, which they supply to unskilful and inexperienced Druggisti to sell as their own make. In their advertisement they (Steam and Go.) state: — " We print the buyers name and address on the labels and wrappers, so as to all appearance, the goods areas if he made thsm himself." When Steams was interviewed in London by the reporter of the " Chemist and Druggist" (an influential trade journal), he said:— "l soon began to. develop the matter as a commercial enterprise to supply popular medicines on a bimiliar plan to those druggists throughout the country who lack facilities, experience, or skill to put up such things themselves." Some of these truthful druggists claim for these medicines (made in America) that they are made (by themselves, of course) of the best Drugs from the best recipes, regardless of cost, and that their long experience is a sufficient guarantee that the articles are exactly what they are represented to be, wheretfß the simple fact it that they have no more idea what the stuff U made of than a skilful and long-experienced chimney-sweep. k . b.
