Tapper,' owneriof Clffden station, was ' charged, at the instarice'of-the Rabbit Inspector, for a breach of the Rabbit Nuisance Act. Mr. Douglass said he had cautioned defendant m November last to keep two men with dogs constantly employed m keeping the rabbits down, but that. until the beginning of February only one man had been employed. From that; time two were -employed, but not con-; stantly, at the work of killing rabbits,until April,- when both were discharged, andthe Work neglected. On 7th May, he visited the property and found no one: employed. Mr Tapper said : he had doneall he could to keep down the rabbitsl Ho had not only employed men with dogs, but had also fumigated. He had not idis-, charged, tlie men referred to, only, one, th* 1 other having left on his own accord, and he had not succeeded m getting others to fill their places. His Worship, after hearing, the evidence of several witnesses, considered the charge substantiated, and' fined the defendant LlO, with costs, L 4 lis.
