The Town Survey.
i * I MR THOMSON IN REPLY. I — — _ TO THE EDITOR Sir,— Mr 9. F. Richardson, by his tetter in to-day's paper, appears to admit that he has not examined the original and recent field books of the town and vicinity ; neither Kas he-tested their marks and pegs in the ground. lam therefore still forced to the conclusion that he is wrong i:i maintaining tJiai Maben's plan and the original records areid ntical y and I am led to believe that the Chief Surveyor, Mr Spence, is right in his letter of 8:h October, 1881, when he says the recent survey (of Maben) is discrepant with the old one. Thus, until Mr Richardson chooses to do himself justice in the manner I suggested in my last. lette-, I cannot but conclude that bo putiuraaeir; in a false position when, sitting on the bench beside his Worship tae Mayor on the Bth inst., he dcliv. f:d a judgment over us prejudicially affecting tho majority of the freeholders of Invercargill who hold their piopertiea by the original 0. own Lands survey, and not by Maben's. — I am, &c, J. T. Thomson.
