A Railnay Disaster.
[By Caulk.] Melbourne, Dec. 4. The total number of those injured by the Richmond railway accident is now known to exceed fifty, and by somo the number is estimated at fully seventy. Many of the sufferers proceeded to their holies. The injured includes Mr Taylor, auctioneer, and Mr Pye, his clerk. Mr Dalgety, clerk, had his leg fractured, and Mr Andrew Jack is suffering: from a severe injury to his head. Miss Berry, daughter of the ox-Premier, is suffering from a severe shock to hei system, and Councillor Cavanagh from internal injuries. Messrs Crowther and Ross are daugerously wounded, and their condition is critical. Many others ire seriously injured. The Hawthorne collision has proved more serious in its effects than the ac cident which occurred near Jolimont in August, 1881. More fatalities, however, were caused l*y the latter than aro likely to arise from Saturday's disaster. Latkk, Following are th * names of others seriously injured by the collision. Latest. Mostof the sufferers by tiie railway accident arc now progressing favorably. The inquest will be held to-morrow (Tu-sday), and after the inquest a Court of Inquiry into the circumstances which led to the collision will bo held. Tlie stutionmaater
at Hawthorne-' has been suspended. It is expected that tlie damages to be awarded to those injured will be much larger than in the Jolimont accident last year.
