ENGLAND v. NEW SOUTH WALES.
[By Cable.] Sydney, Dec. 2. The match between the New South Wales Eleven and the English team was resumed to clay. The weather was fine and there was a very large attendance of spectators. ;TJie v. /Englishmen continued their firßt innings, tlie not-outs of the previous day (Barlow and Leslie) resunoi-
ing their places at the wickets. Both players made a splendid stand, runs being obtained very fast. Leslie was finally caught when he had put together 144, and BarloAV fplloAved with 80 (boAvled). Mr C. T. Studd : was; bowled for 23, and Bates Avas caught and bowled for 3KK, There are noAV five wickets down',,-- and .the ■score" stands at 283, as against 152 scored by the local men in their first innings. Later. At the close of to-day's play the English team had scored 441 for eight wickets. The following are the remainder of the 'scores ; — W. Tleade, caught and bowled, 46 v Steele, bowled, 52 ; Tylecote, bowled, 26 ; Vernon, not out, 12 ; Barnes, not out, 6 ; sundries, 16 ; total, 441 for eight Avickets.
