AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS.

J. O. McArdell (on behalf of the British and New Zealand Mortgage and Agency Company, Limited) reports tbn following sales for the week ending the 30th November : — At Wyndham on the 21st inst., we held a sale of fat and store stock. There was only a limited attendance, and the bidding very slack, resulting in nearly all the store stock being turned out unsold. Fat Cattle made from £8 10s to £9 5s for msdium-weight steers of fair quality ; cows, prime, £10 each. At Wallace town— On ?Bth inst. there were yarded 229 head of cattle and 750 crossbred and merino sheep. Like all store stock sales of late the bidding was languid in the extreme, resulting in nearly half the cattle being passed, and it seems quite apparent if vendors wish to do business this season they must submit to prices considerably below their present reserves. Young cows and heifers sold at £2 15s to £3 ss ; well-grown bullocks, in low condition, £5 ; steers, three parts fat, £6 10a; two-year-old steers at £2 18s 6d ; three-year-old do, £4 18s 6d. Sheep — Crossbred ewes, shorn, with lambs at foot, 10s 3d ; merino wethers, shorn, 3s. At the Junction Yards on Wednesday, the 29th, we held our usual fortnightly fat stock sale, when an over supply of fat stock came forward, resulting in three pens of heavy bullocks of extra prime quality not being sold ; for sheep, the demand was limited, and only about half tbose yarded were disposed of. Fat Cattle — During the week we have sold 38 head at prices ranging from £8 to £13 5s for bullocks ; cows, prime quality, £9 5s to £10, or equal to 30s per 100 lbs. Fat Sheep — At auction we sold large-framed crossbred wethers at 18s 4d, and privately, shorn croasbrebs, mixed sexes, from 8s to 10s each. We quote prime mutton in wool, 3d, and shorn, 2d per lb. Store Sheep.-— We have inquiries for good young merino sheep, which are expected to rule high during the coming season. For cros3breds there will not bs much enquiry for six weeks or two months.

Wool— From a cablegram from our London agents, Messrs Helmuth, Schwartze and Co., referring to the present series we are advised that prices are considerably weaker with a downward tendency ; particularly is this the case for all the coarser and lower classed wools. Most of our constituents intend to try the local market this year, and we purpose fixing the date of our first sale so that any clip not realising a satisfactory figure can be shipped by the Jessie Readman, the first wool ship of the season. Clearing Sale. — On the 30th inst. we heid a displeniehing sale (in conjunction with Messrs Carswell, White and Co.) at Mr A. B. Hay's, Centre Bush farm, there was a good attendance, and the prices were satisfactory throughout. Properties— We have to report the sale fin conjunction with Messrs Carswell, T\ hifce and Co.) of 350 acres at Centre Bush, in Mr A. K. Hay's estate, at £7 per acre, Messra Cunninghame Brothers being the purchasers, and 489 acres on the same estate at £5 14s per acre to Mr John Baird, of Waikiwi.

Messrs Wilson, Tame and Co. report that they held a large sale of horses at their yards last Saturday. Entries were numerous, over 40 horses being entered, and a large number found purchasers. We had a special consignment of horses (17) purchased at the Longbeach sale — all hack and harness horses, and a better lot never left Canterbury. The unbroken colts and fillies, 12 in number, were a good lot, and although the price got seems a good one for unbroken horses it will not pay the sender, as horses of this class are dearer in Canterbury than here: 1 We sold unbroken colts and fillies afc £13 10s, £14, £15, £15 10s, £17, £17 10s, and np to £19; broken hacks, from £6 10s to 18 guineas. For good sound draught horses there was a very good demand. We sold draughts, medium, from £14 to £18 10s, and good draughts from £25 to £32 10s.

On the 29th we held our usual Otaufcau stock sale. The entries were fairly numerous, but principally store cattle, 120 head, but owing to the long spell of dry weather, and the chance of feed becoming scarce they were mostly unsold. We sold heifers, coming to calve, at £3 los to £i ; three and four-year-old steers, in fair condition, from £3 18s (id to £4 ; cows and calves, from £4 to £4 17s Gd. Mei-ino wethers, in wool (fat), 12s. Hacks, from £4 15s to £9 10s, and a good draught filly at £35. In the evening we submitted several properties but did not find a purchaser.

Property Sale — We sold 491 acres, being sections 20, 21, 24, 25, 34, 30, block 2, Lothian Hundred, at a satisfactory price, the purchaser toeing Mr Hardwick, of Canterbury.
